Getting to Know Joe

Joe with his children Michael, Caroline and Cassandra

Joe Shortsleeve wants to be your independent voice on Beacon Hill.  Joe is an award-winning journalist, who has over three decades of experience as an investigative reporter and television news anchor. During his 25 years at WBZ-TV, Joe served as a general assignment reporter, morning and evening anchor, Chief Correspondent and ITEAM reporter until his departure in 2014. Throughout his distinguished career at WBZ, he covered some of the biggest news stories in the region, from the Marathon Bombing to the search for John F. Kennedy Jr.'s plane when it crashed off Martha's Vineyard.

Joe’s ITEAM reports were known for an exceptional level of detail and research, providing the people of Massachusetts vital information, from millions of dollars of federal grant money for cancer research going missing to Boston city officials attempting to take control of buildings from the city’s worst landlord.

Joe understands how the media, across all mediums, impacts the lives of business leaders, politicians, and the average citizen. As a journalist, Joe was able to listen and work with members of the community to deliver the truth. As a State Senator, and as a Medfield resident himself, Joe plans to continue doing exactly that – researching and finding the right solution, while working with every member of our community to deliver on the needs of each neighborhood.

As our State Senator, Joe plans to continue holding politicians accountable by fighting for increased transparency, greater accountability and bold initiatives like universal healthcare. Joe has spent decades looking out for the people of Massachusetts and, with your support, will continue fighting for us.
